Founded in 1998, the New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers (NYSFTD) is dedicated to supporting and advocating for the vital transportation lifeline that drivers provide to New York City and throughout the state. We recognize that drivers are critical to helping our cities and neighborhoods operate efficiently. Our mission is to ensure fair treatment, protection, and recognition for drivers who work tirelessly across all boroughs and boundaries, at all hours, serving residents, neighbors, and visitors alike. We strive to preserve and promote the unique characteristics that make drivers an integral part of New York's culture and economy. Through collaboration with officials, we address industry challenges and promote passenger transportation as a reliable, cost-effective, and essential transportation option. Representing our diverse membership of over 30,000 drivers, regardless of the type of vehicle they operate or their background, regardless of the types of transportation programs or companies they drive for, we aim to honor and uplift these hardworking professionals who, day in and day out, help maintain the vibrant pace of life here in New York. The NYSFTD is committed to creating a stronger, safer, and more equitable passenger transportation industry for all, ensuring that our drivers receive the recognition and support they deserve as essential contributors to New York life.
